(*14) The Polish Underground Movement in Auschwitz Concentration Camp

 During the WWII he was a young Polish cavalry officer, and after joining the underground he was for a time head of a department attached to the HQ of the Polish Home Army, responsible for secret contact with men and women in GESTAPO hands. In April 1943 he was himself arrested and sent to Auschwitz.

 

Since the war he has lived in Britain, where he has completed doctoral studies in International History at the London School of Economics and Political Science. He has also published several books about war.

 

One of his books: Poland, SOE and the Allies, The Sunday Times said:

‘…a dry, unvarnished, unimpassioned account(…) spiced with individual detail enough to hold a dullard, recounting sorrow enough to make an angel weep.’
